The renowned local engineering and contracting firm National Marine Dredging Company has nearly completed the reclamation of six hectares of land for public use at Makers District, the 18-hectare master-planned development on Reem Island. As per the schedule, the enabling works for Pixel, the creative residential component of the district – including 700 lineal meters of shoring, 180,000 cubic meters of excavation, and over 900 permanent piles – will commence in Q2 2018.
IMKAN also started excavation on its prestigious Nudra development, laying the foundations for the striking community that is taking shape in the Cultural District on Saadiyat Island. Set to comprise 37 shell-and-core high-end beachside villas, the project offers residents the creative opportunity to design their own bespoke home.
The developer has awarded a construction contract for Nudra to the joint-venture of Wates and Eastern. While Wates is a renowned UK company that has executed restoration works on Buckingham Palace and St. Paul’s Cathedral, Sharjah-based construction and civil engineering firm Eastern brings to the table four decades of experience of the local market.
In a bid to add more than just mixed-use developments to the capital’s landscape, IMKAN has awarded the contract for the construction of Abu Dhabi’s first open-air leisure and entertainment green, Sheikha Fatima Park, to leading local contractor Al Fara’a that has already commenced preliminary works. Spanning 46,000 sq m – roughly the size of Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi – the park will be the first project in the capital to merge F&B and retail with tranquil green open spaces.
Construction is also well underway on Alburouj – a fully integrated community, situated in the rapidly developing residential area of East Cairo and set to include more than 1,200 mixed-type units spanning over 1,200 acres (5 million sq m). The project includes the stunning Sheikh Zayed Mosque that pays homage to the founding father of the UAE, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The first residential communities of Alburouj are slated for handover in Q2 2019.
IMKAN will showcase state-of-the-art models of its developments in the UAE, Egypt and Morocco at stands 9B10 and 9B20 at Cityscape Abu Dhabi, running from April 17 to 19 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The international developer will also highlight its research and development platform through the IMKAN BOX, a research lab, atelier, and creative studio that leverages cutting-edge technology, research, and design to bring the company’s upcoming projects to life. Representing a meeting of minds, the BOX is emblematic of the multi-disciplinary approach that propels IMKAN’s innovation and growth.
IMKAN aims to expand its international and national footprint through unique projects that support and enhance local culture while seamlessly blending into the communities in which it operates.
IMKAN is an Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer with a portfolio of 26 projects spanning four continents. The company aims to create soulful places that enrich people’s lives. IMKAN’s proposition is built around a unique research platform that uncovers the distinct social behaviors and habits of specific market segments – from millennials to discerning high-net-worth individuals – to formulate tailored user profiles. This research-led approach enables the company to shape communities that are in tune with the mindset of each profile, thereby adding value for its stakeholders.
IMKAN is a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Capital Group (ADCG). Its key projects include two developments in Makers District – The—Artery, a multi-use building that integrates a makers’ space with a parking garage, and Pixel, the company’s first mixed-use destination – as well as Nudra, a luxury beachside villa community, and Sheikha Fatima Park, an open-air project that seeks to enhance community interaction. In addition, the company has big announcements in the pipeline for 2018.
