Cityscape 2011 Ending in Abu Dhabi while the Emirate Establishing a New Era of Growth and Development

While the international financial crisis is still having its impact on different regions and cities around the world, Abu Dhabi is powering ahead with new infrastructure projects in different sectors offering great investment opportunities for international investors.

The year 2011 is witnessing the start of many infrastructure projects including a network of railways, expansion of the Abu Dhabi international airport, and upgrading the Mafraq - Ghuweifat road which connects the country with the western borders.  Other strategic projects have partly been completed and are functional like Al Reem island, a residential, commercial and business area, Yas Island project which offers unrivalled attractions such as Ferrari world Abu Dhabi, F1 racing, five star hotels and golf courses, the Saadyiat Island a world class leisure business and tourism hub which is housing the Louver and Guggenheim museums, and Al Sowah Island the new business and financial district, which accommodates Cleveland clinic-Abu Dhabi Hospital in addition to many other infrastructure and industrial projects costing tens of billions of dollars.

One common factor among all these projects is sustainability. This phrase is the key focus of the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision which aims to make the government of Abu Dhabi one of the top five governments in the world, and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi one of the best places for living, visiting, and investing.

The municipal system in the Abu Dhabi Emirate showcased 38 sustainable development projects during its participation at this year’s Cityscape Abu Dhabi event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 17-21 April 2011.  This event was held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

One of the major projects was showcased is the new building codes in Abu Dhabi.  These codes aim to unify construction practices across the Emirate to create better, safer, greener buildings that are more cost-effective and durable, and that are built to higher health and safety standards.
All the projects and services showcased by the municipal system at Cityscape Abu Dhabi were exhibited at a state-of the art stand that included a 4D virtual theatre allowing visitors to swoop across the region gaining a panoramic view of Abu Dhabi’s future.

These projects and municipal services will play a major role in delivering better services to the public and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of the Emirate, in addition to achieving sustainable development all through Abu Dhabi. These projects are all about quality; quality of development, quality of service, and by continuing to lead the way on sustainability, the citizens of the Abu Dhabi Emirate are clearly well placed to benefit from all three.
Abu Dhabi’s economy is moving towards sustainable growth and prosperity; it is difficult for any local or foreign company to ignore this, especially in the real estate sector. Many international companies are now encouraged to move headquarters or start new businesses in the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
The UAE enjoys political stability and has great opportunities in all sectors, especially in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi where the government is determined to power ahead with its projects to develop its infrastructure, health services, education, and technology.
